How it works
Anti-wrinkle injections are neuromodulators that contain Botulinum Toxin type-A, which works by relaxing and weakening the muscles that are responsible for wrinkles and lines. Effectively giving you an overall rejuvenated appearance.
How long does Anti-wrinkle treatment take to work?
You will start to notice results from day 3 post-treatment, with optimum results 2 weeks post-treatment.
How long do Anti-Wrinkle injections last?
Results usually last 3 to 4 months. Factors such as one’s metabolism, lifestyle, exercise regimen, and certain health conditions will affect the longevity of the anti-wrinkle treatment. Usually, the anti-wrinkle has an 8-week maximum peak of effect, and then it gradually starts to wear-off.

Advise your clinician if you
- Have an auto-immune disorder
- Are regularly taking anticoagulation therapy (i.e.: Warfarin,) Heparin
- Have a severe metabolic or systemic disorder
- Have active sunburn, eczema or psoriasis
- Are currently taking antibiotics
- Are under 18 years of age
Treatment Preparation
- Avoid blood-thinning medication such as aspirin, ibuprofen, Ginkgo Biloba and fish oil one week prior to treatment
- Avoid alcohol
- Have a meal and increase your water intake
What to expect right after the Anti-wrinkle treatment
While it’s unlikely you will experience side effects, you may experience redness or bruising at the injection point, pain, firmness, swelling, itching, lumps, bumps or discolouration. You may also experience a mild headache if it is your first time having an anti-wrinkle injection. Paracetamol can be used for post-treatment headaches.
Post-treatment Care
- Avoid touching the injection sites for 4-6 hours
- Keep your head upright for at least 4 hours post-treatment
- Avoid pressure treatments such as massage, facials, waxing the area treated and micro pigmentation for 2 weeks
- Avoid strenuous exercise and heat (e.g. saunas, LED) for 24 hours
- Avoid applying makeup and skincare for at least 4 hours
Anti-wrinkle injections are not recommended for anyone who
- Has Myasthenia Gravis or Eaton-Lambert Syndrome
- Is hypersensitive to product ingredients, specifically BTX-A
- Currently has an active infection in the area to be injected
- Is under investigation with GP for any health issues
- Is pregnant or breastfeeding
Follow-up appointment
A follow-up appointment is recommended 2 weeks after the treatment as we would like to ensure you are happy with the results and optimum results have been achieved. During the follow-up appointment, pictures are taken to compare results with the before pictures. We also book your next appointment in 3-4 months’ time so that you can maintain your results.
